Holiday House, the designer table top showhouse, was founded four years ago by Iris Dankner to raise breast cancer awareness in the design industry. Iris is a fifteen year breast cancer survivor, and has made it her mission to raise funds for breast cancer research and women who need help fighting this disease. Since its inception, Holiday House has featured top designers in the field who are extremely talented and have a passion for the cause. Holiday House is about the celebration of life, with each designer selecting a holiday or a special moment in life as an inspiration for their design. Grade participated in 2011.

The design of this room embraces independence and the luxury of “personal time”. To celebrate this, we have created a room with a relaxed seating arrangement – free of TV, iPad, cell phone and the outside world. Being alone in a room surrounded by art, books and high end design cultivates thought, reflection and calm. With the use of soft, luxurious materials such as velvets, wool, cashmere, silk and leather in combination with complementary lavish hard materials such as ebonized cerused oak, polished nickel and marble, we have created an environment that exudes confidence, quality and success. The eclectic choices in furniture, lighting and art come together promoting self expression and refined taste, qualities of independence.

The concept of the room is “independence” a very important right that our country fought for. The gravity of this right is often forgotten as the world has become consumed by social media and the internet. We are celebrating the strength of the individual, his success and the basic human rights to have time alone, time to think, reflect and learn.
