New York, NY
The Fifth Avenue Pied-À-Terre is an 1,800 SF, newly renovated jewel box apartment that elegantly fuses Upper East Side traditional with vibrant colors and contemporary style. Recently featured in Galerie Magazine, the result is an elegant, subtly feminine translation of project ambitions and thoughtful Prewar modernization. The existing layout was transformed from a jagged series of spaces into an ordered, more harmonious layout and program while the interiors honor the history and character of an older New York alongside a vibrancy inspired by Milan, Italy. Prewar-style architectural references remain but were refined of ornamentation and paired with bespoke Italian millwork to reflect a modern sensibility with a touch of the traditional. Each room stands out as its own conceptual piece within the overarching vision for the whole, featuring memorable moments of artisan metalwork and finishes, colorful glass, and richly textured stones. A bright, cool palette nods to the traditional against abstract, neutral textures which quietly activate a middle ground among the bright whites, deep jewel tones, and earthy feminine hues. And forms and geometries lean feminine with a mix of custom and curated vintage furniture pieces that underscore softness around the edges, luxe upholstery, and metal detailing.
