For this 3,650 SF, private West Village residence, GRADE undertook a full floor gut renovation to reveal a sophisticated hideaway with a modern sensibility skilfully paired with Old World and Asian influences. The client’s vision for the space allowed for interior alterations and a reconfigured layout resulting in an open, central area of connected spaces for entertaining, offering ease of movement and abundant light and atmosphere. Wood-clad ceilings and wide-plank floors define and unify the central areas. The dining and living rooms are flanked by the study and kitchen on opposing ends with large sliding screen panels that allow effortless expansion or contraction of spaces. Rustic finishes are layered with contemporary art and vintage pieces in an eclectic yet calming balance. Oil-rubbed bronze details and tumbled edge limestone floors call to mind Italian villas in gentle contrast with the modern lines and textures of custom furnishings which provide subtle hints about this home’s cosmopolitan location.
