GRADE spearheaded the design of the living area of this luxe Upper East Side private residence, doing away with walls and allowing for a flow of natural light to open up the space while still preserving several of the client’s beloved objects, including a wooden table newly repurposed into a custom wine rack. Completed in March 2012, the objective was to create a space that was warm and inviting—comfortable enough for the children to play and watch TV in during the daytime, but sleek enough so that the parents could entertain guests at night. Notable accents evoke a solid, sturdy yet sophisticated atmosphere— among these; wrap-around walls, a rounded glass dining table, custom cerused oak paneling and a white lacquered and rose-gold mirrored back bar, an exquisite leather ottoman, and a unique lighting scheme that transitions from day to night.  (Sq ft: 541)
