GRADE designed this 2,835 SF, private Upper East Side Residence as a comfortable haven for family, providing spaces and environments to support togetherness and rest in tasteful, contemporary style. With an emphasis on paired-down elegance and artful, custom elements, modern furnishings and fixtures meticulously blend with timeless materials in two distinct color palettes. The entry gallery introduces the first in a range of creams, greys and soft wood tones to provide an immediate sense of calm; and in the study, a darker, richer palette was selected to activate and energize the space. Custom crown and base molding frame each space above statuary marble and rich oak flooring, adding elegance and polish. The open floor plan allows uninterrupted interaction and natural light to radiate throughout, aided by the light color scheme and mirrors to reflect light into interior spaces. Innovative, personalized design details such as sliding lacquered wall panels and concealed doors reveal hidden spaces that allow the homeowners to revel in their personal hobbies.
